About EFL
Education for Life-Kenya is a professionally run Human Development Training and Community Empowerment organization. It is a catholic faith based trust incorporated organization under the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa.
EFL main objective is to enable individuals and community to explore and discover their under used potentials and take actions to improve their life situation.
Using the Behaviour Change Process, a problem solving and action oriented approach, based on the helping skills model of Gerald Egan “The Skilled Helper” Education for life empower youth, women, couples and children from vulnerable backgrounds with knowledge, skills and competencies for living a more dignified and healthy life.

Education for Life: Empowering Youth for a Better Future
At Education for Life, we are committed to equipping children in schools with essential life skills that empower them to make positive, life-enhancing choices. Our approach goes beyond shaping behaviors; we also address the environmental factors that influence young people’s decisions and actions.
We believe in the interconnectedness of humanity and the environment—each has the power to shape the other. Recognizing this, we actively engage young people in environmental preservation initiatives, fostering their role as agents of change. By leveraging the energy and creativity of youth, we aim to promote a cleaner and healthier living environment while building climate resilience in local communities.
Life Skills Education
We work with primary and secondary schools to provide psychosocial support and life skills training. This education focuses on nurturing values and behaviors that enable children to become responsible and proactive members of society.
Environmental Preservation
We collaborate with schools to strengthen forest and tree cover through tree-planting initiatives. Students are trained to become environmental advocates, driving meaningful change at household and community levels.
Community Engagement
To maximize impact, we link behavior change with environmental management. Our programs engage local communities through leadership forums, such as chief barazas and community meetings, fostering a participatory approach to environmental sustainability
While Education for Life operates nationally, we prioritize arid and semi-arid counties where tree cover is urgently needed, and community attitudes towards environmental management require transformation. Our key focus areas include:

Pedagogy
Education for life-Kenya uses a participatory and person cantered approach that allows individuals to examine their values and its bearing in their present realities while challenging crippling attitudes that underpin risky behaviours that threatens once life, personal growth and development. Embedded in the methodology is reflection and action praxis done in plenary, small group discussions and input sessions that allows targeted beneficiaries get in touch with their inherent capacities for growth, internalize and get involved in the transformation process at a more personal level

Character formation and personality development for children and teenagers
“Teaching children to count is good but teaching children what counts is better” This programme addresses issues from the perspective of character building, virtues and principles that help children and teenagers develop adequate knowledge, skills and appropriate attitude for self-governance as they navigate safely through transitional stage of life.
Behaviour Change Process for youth and young adults- training for transformation

The experience of this workshop offers participants with the opportunity to explore their lives identify the risks and develop strategies to make informed choices to live a fuller and dignified life.
Livelihood strategies for women and youth
Empower vulnerable youth and women with knowledge and practical approaches for initiating and managing income generating businesses for gainful and sustainable livelihoods
Responsible parenting sessions
Empower parents with knowledge, skills and competencies for positive parenting and improving their parenting mandate while safeguarding the rights and welfare of children responsibly .
Couples programme
Providing couples with an opportunity for ongoing formation that strengthen their marriages and build families that are sanctuary of love and life.
Get Involved
Education for life being a non-profit making organization, implementation of its program depends on the support of funding agencies and self-sponsorship by institutions that have the interest of the vulnerable and the most left behind (Children Youth, women and families) members of the society.
